Is Solana actually the ETH killer everyone says?

I made good money on SOL memecoins last year. The ecosystem is growing fast, especially the DeFi side. Jupiter exchange is legit.

Every cycle there's an 'ETH killer' and every cycle ETH survives. SOL had like 5 major outages in 2023 alone. Hard pass for me as a long term hold.

Been watching SOL for months now. The transaction speeds are insane compared to ETH, but I keep hearing about network outages. Anyone here actually building on Solana? Is the ecosystem mature enough to challenge Ethereum long term?

SOL is fast no doubt but ETH has the developer ecosystem locked down. L2s like Arbitrum and Base are solving the speed issue already. I think they can coexist tbh.

Solana has the speed but ETH has the ecosystem. Until Solana can match the DeFi depth and developer tooling on Ethereum, it is more like an ETH alternative than a killer. Both can coexist imo.

Been using Solana daily for about 6 months now. The transaction fees are basically zero compared to ETH gas. But I have also experienced 3 outages in that time so reliability is still a concern.

People forget that ETH killer narratives have come and gone - EOS, Cardano, Avalanche... Solana is the closest contender but ETH keeps evolving too. The merge was huge.
