MGA publishes findings from Thematic Review on Governance Assurance – Key Functions

The Malta Gaming Authority published findings from its Thematic Review on Governance Assurance – Key Functions, assessing governance arrangements of a sample of B2B and B2C Authorised Persons and the effectiveness of CEO, Compliance, Internal Audit, and AML/CFT functions. The review found many Authorised Persons have mature governance frameworks but identified sector-wide improvement areas such as over-reliance on few senior decision-makers, weak audit trails, and insufficient evidence of challenge in strategic decisions; it also highlighted examples of good practice and aims to support licence holders through supervisory engagement and outreach.
